The factional fight in the Congress has reached the women’s wing also.

Sorry have to cancel my tuttukudi (Thoothukudi) trip. As I am still to meet with my state Mahila president – Nagma, the newly appointed general secretary of All India Mahila Congress, tweeted about a week ago setting the tongues wagging at the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee.
She was referring to Vijayadharani, the State Mahila Congress chief, who did not receive her when she arrived in Chennai for the first time. An MLA, Vijayadharani quite often gives interviews to the regional language channels on various issues. While she is looking at a larger role for herself, the Congress has got two yesteryear actors, first Khushboo and now Nagma to further party’s political interests in the State. While Khushboo is a national spokesperson, Nagma is party women's wing in-charge for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Peeved she may be, but Vijayadharani has no other option but to fall in line. Finally, they all posed together at a press conference at the party headquarters along with TNCC president EVKS Elangovan recently.
And, Nagma vowed to bring back Congress rule in the State.
State Ministers paid homage to Maruthupandiar brothers in Madurai on Saturday. But the event had a tinge of politics to it.
Ministers K. Raju and R.B. Udhayakumar along with Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa led the party functionaries in paying floral tributes to the brothers who were hanged by the British.
They chose the small statues of the martyrs on Scott Road in the city. Though the street was congested, the Ministers deliberately avoided the huge bronze statues of the Maruthupandiar brothers put up near the sprawling Teppakulam.
Reason? These statues were installed by DMK chief M. Karunanidhi.
This is the season of slogans. While parties like the DMK are coining new slogans, the BJP leaders are trying to use others’ slogan for their benefit.
Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Pon. Radhakrishnan, at a party workers meet in Theni, said that people in Tamil Nadu have been hearing the slogan ‘Mudiyattum-
Vidiyattum’.
Using the slogan to hit back at the Dravidian parties, he said, “Everyone should follow this slogan. Let the 50-year-old rule of Dravidian parties come to an end and it will mark the dawn of a new era led by BJP in the State. It should become mantra in TN.”
